College football tickets are too expensive. Schools gouge their loyal fans out of being able to go to games with $200 tickets, $15 beers and $20 chicken strips. Naturally, this is because they know some people will pay that much. However, this has lead to lower attendances and a worse overall gameday atmosphere for many schools. Finding cheap tickets to games is a pain in the ass, that’s why I have done the work for you. Here are my ticket deals this week that are the best bang for your buck.
#22 Mizzou at #8 Oklahoma - $29
What more is there to say? Top 25 matchup, CFP implications, John Mateer doing John Mateer things, all for under $30. Sign me up. Not only do you get to see a huge game with big players on both sides, you get to do it in one of the most iconic stadiums in college football. Oklahoma has an electric atmosphere, it will be packed and there should be lots of offense and points. It’s going to be a beautiful day in Norman, 62 degrees and full sun. I would pay well over this price of $29 to go watch this game, even without being a fan of either team.
#21 Illinois at Wisconsin - $8
This game is not a big game, not a high caliber matchup and does not have any big implications regarding the CFP or the Big 10 championship race. But $8 to go to Camp Randall and witness “Jump Around” in person? Yes please. I doubt the stadium will be full, and the fans that are there may start to clear out before the game is over. But $8 to see a ranked team play, in a hostile environment while seeing one of the best traditions in all of college football? This is a no brainer. Buy that damn ticket.
#13 Miami at Virginia Tech - $6
Similarly to Illinois at Wisconsin, this deal is more due to the environment and excitement than anything else. There are very real College Football Playoff and even ACC title implications in this game. Miami needs some help, but they are in no way out of the ACC championship race or the College Football Playoff race. Virginia Tech just made a splash hire in James Franklin, excitement is higher than it has been in years in Blacksburg. I highly suspect that Franklin will be there and may even be announced prior to the game or at halftime. The excitement of next season should drive up ticket sales for this week, leading to an even better environment. Plus, seeing possibly the best entrance in all of college football is worth the $6 on its own.
Kansas at Iowa State - $13
Iowa State is going bowling, they were ranked relatively high in the AP Poll early in the season before faltering as of late. Kansas is 5-5 and needs this game to have a real shot at a bowl with Utah next week. I know that bowl games are essentially worthless now (thanks ESPN and transfer portal) but it is still a major deal to coaches, boosters and (some) players. Jalon Daniels is one of the most exciting quarterbacks in the country, he has accounted for over 2,400 yards and 24 touchdowns this year. He is a special player that is worth the price of admission, especially when it is less than a beer to get into the stadium. ISU’s QB, Rocco Becht is also exciting to watch, but in a completely different way. He has thrown 9 INTs this year and taken 18 sacks. The chaos that could ensue in this game is well worth the $13.
Baylor at Arizona - $14
Similarly to Kansas at Iowa State, $14 is too good of a deal to pass up to see the playmakers in this game. Arizona should honestly be ranked, they are 7-3 with their only losses coming to ranked teams. They have a gunslinger at QB in Noah Fifita, the junior QB has thrown for 2,500 yards, 24 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions. Brent Brennan seems to have this team on the upswing from the down year last season. Baylor is 5-5 and has 2 very tough games to finish the season in a chase for a bowl game. At Arizona and hosting #23 Houston is not exactly the easiest way to end the season needing a win to reach bowl eligibility. Expect them to throw everything they have at the Wildcats which could lead to explosive plays, turnovers and lots of points. Sawyer Robertson has already thrown for 3,200 yards and 29 touchdowns, I expect there to be a few more of each in this game, making it well worth the price to get in the door.
